Women’s Health Center

Project Underway!

Since Soaring Unlimited Haiti launched construction of our new Women’s Health & Birth Center last fall, great progress has been made! Thanks to Building Goodness Foundation (BGF) for their productive process for moving ahead on the main building, which will house exam and delivery rooms for our women patients to receive prenatal care and give birth, a pharmacy and laboratory, administration offices and a training facility, and living space for both Haitian Midwifery Staff and visiting Midwives from the U.S.

BGF reports the good news that the ground work on the new building is primarily finished, including much of the masonry and framework of pillars. They hope to soon begin the second floor and pour the main slab to dry underneath. Also next will come the second-floor joists and wood deck, and installation of the porch floor joist and deck boards.

During construction of the main two-story structure under the supervision of BGF, Soaring has also partnered with Pure Water for the World to raise funds for and construct a new septic tank, latrines, and handwash stations on our medical campus. And finally, Sverdrup Lutheran Church in Minnesota provided funding for a new clean-water well that has been dug on our grounds.
