Pure Water for the World & Rotary International

Another major collaborative partnership SUH has entered into within the past two years is with Pure Water for the World, which is primarily sponsored and funded by Rotary International. Pure Water had already been conducting a project to install bio-sand water filters in Northern Haiti (in the same Pistere Village where SUH’s Clinic is located), and then eventually decided to relocate their headquarters from Port au Prince in southwest Haiti—again, a necessary move due to the violence in and around the capital—to the North nearer to Soaring’s operations. We partnered with them in their transition in order to assist with meeting space, lodging, etc., and are now launching collaborative community projects at the intersection of healthcare and clean water/sanitation. In August 2022, our two organizations are conducting a series of events as part of a De-Worming Campaign in multiple villages in the Limonade region outside of Cap Haitien. Pure Water will provide the awareness and prevention training, and Soaring will treat the children (and adults) who already present with the condition. We look forward to continuing to explore how we can partner where healthcare needs and sanitation resources meet in Northern Haitian communities.
